Having never experienced working at a big event before I was very excited to be able to part of FitLiving UK. I started my work experience with Lineup Media/Events a week before the event so it was good to be with the team during the build up to FitLiving and to see everything that was involved in the lead up. I got involved with tasks such as the guestlist for the event and inviting companies to keep spreading the word. I was also putting together welcome packs for all the exhibitors for the weekend.
It was all hands on deck on the Friday setting up for the event at the BIC, from putting together VIP goodie bags to setting up the reception areas. I also helped to put up posters and class schedules around the venue in preparation for the weekend. Then it was down to the beach to offload the drinks delivery with the rest of the team. (Which left us looking like drowned rats! Got to love English weather!) It was good to meet and welcome the exhibitors who arrived on the Friday and help them with any queries they had.
Saturday came round soon enough and it was an early start ready for the first day of the event. We were just praying for sunshine! The exhibitors were set up and ready to go and the queues were already forming at the reception in the BIC. I was down at the beach ready to welcome everyone in with the team. It was a fun upbeat atmosphere with celebrities running classes as well such as X Factor’s Chico, Richard Callender, Darcy Bussell, London Paleo Girl, Becki Rabin and Lindsay Jay. The day started with a relaxed and chilled vibe with the yoga classes down at the beach. People came flooding in for the dance classes and there was an amazing party vibe for Club JeK’s dance class. Chico brought the fun factor with his Block Fit masterclass. I enjoyed dancing along to that too! The sun really did come out for Richard Callender’s Urban Funk class and everyone left feeling incredibly energised! People really enjoyed the day and many people were coming back for most of the classes! Even the rain didn’t stop people coming down and the tents came in handy!
There was a good family atmosphere too with the children getting glitter face paint and the Sport BU Zone was popular with the children’s classes. The BIC was buzzing with people and even more classes. The exhibitor’s hall was equally busy and lively. The day ended with the VIP exhibitors drinks down at the beach bar.
Sunday it was back for more fun and the event was equally as buzzing as everyone was back for more classes. I was down at the beach again and it was nice as I had got a feel for what it was like now. The celebrities were back ready to do it all again with just as much energy! Chico’s Block Fit ran again inside a yoga tent and he didn’t let the rain stop him! Richard Callender’s Slow Jam was equally as popular as the Saturday. There was also an amazing atmosphere for Darcy Bussell’s class with the Heart FM Main Stage filled to the brim. As well as working down at the beach I also got to help out with the music for the exhibitor’s fashion shows which allowed them to showcase their latest workout gear. This brought lots of people over to have a look at the brands. It was good to go round the exhibitor’s hall and see how it was all going for the companies. The day flew by and before I knew it was the end of the day and the event. It was great to experience and to be part of FitLiving UK. The event was successful with such a good atmosphere and received such good feedback from the exhibitors and the people who attended. I’ve also learned how much work goes into putting on such a big event but I had so much fun!
Bring on 2018!
